Since 2002, Kensington Housing Estate has been redeveloped by the Office of Housing and property developer, Becton. The former public housing estate now includes public and private housing.

Urban Communities manages public housing services in Kensington on behalf of the Office of Housing and in accordance with the Office of Housing Policies and Procedures and the Residential Tenancy Act.

Urban Communities is the first organisation to carry out this role for the government in Victoria.

The public and private housing community in Kensington is made up people of different ages and from a wide range of cultures. We work with that community to create a great place to live. Homes are well maintained and secure and friendships have developed between neighbours who feel proud of their local environment.

Urban Communities has an office on-site with staff available to deal with residents’ inquiries. Our staff can also arrange translation services for residents who need assistance to discuss any residential issues.

Our location at the heart of the community also means we can continue to be aware of, and respond to, the needs of residents.
